The paltas that Buwa teaches are not only necessary for a learner to do his riyaz and practice but I believe they open up the Roop - (Face) - the true nature of a Raga.
When a Grand master like Gajananbuwa teaches these Palatas, they are more than just routine exercises. They reveal, in my view, how to build and allow a Raga to grow in a natural way.
If a learner asks and contemplates why a given palata or a string of palatas follow a certain configuration, he/she could begin to understand not only a lot about a raga but a general structure of ANY Raga!
In other words the 'paltas' are the building blocks of Badhat (elaboration) of a given Raga.
